New diagnosisJust spoke to my dad (69 yr. old) on the phone and he informed me that after detecting some blood in his urine he went to see a Urologist After an ultrasound, the report said there's a growth of about 1 inch by 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch on the inner lining. They then preformed cystoscopy which apparently was enough for the Urologist to conclude that it's cancerous and in need of an operation. No biopsy, no cytology.
Unfortunately, that's all the information I have at this point, my parents were in a bit of shock at the doctor's office and neglected to ask too many questions. The next move is CT scan next week, consultation with another specialist. My questions are as follow: is it normal to diagnose the tumor only visually through cystoscopy? I was under the impression that biopsy is usually preformed if cancer is suspected. Also anything about the size of the tumor, is it big, small, early, late? It sound quite early to me but I don't know. Anything will be helpful. Thank you.
