Post a new topicby daughter#2 on Thu May 29, 2008 11:23 pm

MY 76 YEAR OLD DAD WAS RECENTLY DIAGNOSED WITH BLADDER CANCER AT LEAST STAGE II. HOW DOES STAGE II CAUSE HEMATURIA? HE IS TAKING ANTIBIOTICS FOR HIS UTI SO WE'RE WAITING TO SEE HOW MUCH THE BLEEDING WILL DECREASE DUE TO CURING THE UTI

THANK YOU TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP.

Hi, I probably can't help with too much info., but I know it gets frustrating to post on here and no one answer you. I don't know how cancer causes hematuria, I just know it does. I have had hematuria for over two years now, and was basically patted on the head and told it couldn't be anything since I was female and yound. I just recently had a urine cytology test aftre a cystoscopy, and it came back suspecious for malignancy, with numerous atypical cells. They are still waiting to do something and I am very frustrated. They also always try to put me on antibiotics when I go to the Dr.s, just because of the blood in the urine, but my tests always come back negative for infection. Last time I argued with them and refused antibiotics as I think its pointless if there is no infection. Anyways, best of luck with your father. Keep being an advocate for him, ask lots of questions, and I will send all good thoughts his way.
